Having being selected by the WPO for Kuaar and numerous publications in local print media, Hurraima Durrani might seem like a small town girl but her work surely has a charm to it that brought her to the spotlight. With her thesis on Vintage Fashion she captured the beauty of the past with her camera and showcased her skills.
Born in a family of heros, Hurraima's grandfather a Lt. Colonel in the British Army and recipient of George Cross for his valour has been a great influence on her will to stand out in the crowd. Born in the city of Saint i.e Multan her child hood was full of colors, with the shrines and the baba jees she grew up witnessing the majestic beauty of the 5th largest city in Pakistan. Growing up she grew fond of the colors around her and soon she wanted to express herself with them so armed with her digicam she would click whenever she can sneak a shot, as time progressed her passion for photography grew inside of her and finally she decided that this is something she has to do. After getting enrolled in bachelors for Graphic Design in MCA she took a course on photography, armed with a proper DSLR she now had the perfect tools to express herself. After a few months with the camera she stumbled on a photographer named Taimur Ali Ahmed who is a wedding photographer, after a brief look at his work she fell in love with it, wedding photography that she never really paid attention to was now her favorite.
Over time she has missed a few shots just because she didnt had her camera with her which makes her feel saddened and she truly feels the desire to go back but apart from that photography has treated her gently. Her prime focus is wedding photography but she loves to cover fashion events as well because she feels that her photography is all about expressing the love in the nature which can only be done when there is a blend of colors. Capturing nature is her hobby and she never lets the chance of capturing mother nature when she poses for her it helps her connect with the environment and the idea behind nature shoots is to learn the perfect setting. With photographers taking the center stage in Pakistan her advice to the newbees is that they should spend time learning the craft from a professional even though most photographers are self taught but they have spent years to master there craft and if they would have taken professional courses they would have been at the top sooner then they did and might have even gone higher.
With better imaging technologies, parents have started to understand the importance of photography and in the next decade it will be considered an art by the majority of the population which would help Pakistan not only in creating jobs but it will in the long run help curb the problems faced by the country. When people see photographs they either praise the model or the photographer but in truth its more then that, its a blend of everything from good subjects to a good photographer, the equipment matters as well as the setting on the set. So in short photography is more about the work that is done before the shot is taken then it is about the photograph itself.
