Waheed Akhtar is truly a marvel when it comes to creating art, his passion for photography has led him into a field of unlimited opportunities but unlike most he is a one of those who like to play on the dangerous front. Focusing primarily on the black and white shots landscape and architecture Waheed has chosen what most Pakistani photographers don't even try to experiment with.
His style is somewhat unique but his philosophy is simple, if its not unique its not art. He plans to expand his expertise to other forms soon right now he is busy working with still forms but soon he will be out there to click the flying moments in life.
Waheed started his journey as a freelance web designer, which expanded to blogging over time. Writing about photographers gave him the opportunity to explore the world of photography and one day he asked himself the question "why aren't you doing it?". The thought process evolved and he researched on what should be his prime focus, people were clicking pictures all around the globe and this meant high competition but it wasn't competition that scared him it was the thought of being a part of the crowd that sent shivers down his spine. After a few months of research he was confident enough to decide that his work will stand out if he tries to be unique. Black and White photographs are simple yet have they are extremely easy to indulge in, by eliminating color a photographer can easily bring attention to his subjects plus he felt that this form of photography is under appreciated. Being a person who has worked hard to achieve everything in his life himself he took on the responsibility of teaching photography to himself very seriously, spending hours at a time to learn the right way to do things. Gradually he started to see his work improve, his shots started getting good from better and then one day he finally saw his work meet the level of satisfaction he thought was enough to share them with the world.
His best friend in this amazing journey of his has been his passion. No matter how good he gets he has the hunger for more in him which makes him want to out do himself everytime he is with a camera. Being able to visualise shot before he takes them makes him understand the needs of the shot and his passion drives him to test himself everytime he takes a shot. Whenever he sees a new photographer trying to copy someone style he feels sad and tries to talk that person into establishing their own ways, according to him its important to know what suits you not what works for someone else. Everyone is different and every shot is unique so copying someone is an unhealthy habit which will lead to only one conclusion: limited creativity. Photography is more than just about what you clicked its more about how you did it and what will the viewer see, if a shot is taken just before it was there to be clicked then it wont connect with the audience but if a shot was taken for the audience then the impact of that image will open new doors and possibilities.
His style is somewhat unique but his philosophy is simple, if its not unique its not art. He plans to expand his expertise to other forms soon right now he is busy working with still forms but soon he will be out there to click the flying moments in life.
