Salahuddin Aftab Films

Born in Manchester, UK, in 1992 this young artist has been travelling almost all his life. With a dad who was in the army, he had spent half his life going from one city to another and it made him realize that life keeps moving on and the only way to hold on to memories is if he could capture them. So at a very young age he started developing a love for photography and then this love turned into a passion.

Salahuddin Aftab is a man who grew up watching people play with photography, in the time he spent abroad he was exposed to all sorts of photography equipment and it helped him understood what wonders can photography do. When he was 7 his father had a posting in Chitral there he saw how foreigners flocked the area and took pictures of it which made him realize that the locals and his fellow country men mostly don't understand the beauty of the region but an outsider simply falls in love with the area once they visit it and that made him photography even more. He took a course for photography at Darkroom School of Photography in Florence Italy and then he studied Film Making from NCA, Lahore. He draws his inspiration from almost everything he sees but his love for people is what takes the priority. Everytime he sees a person, he sees a story in them something that is unique about them and that they have a story which needs to be told, may it be a bride dressed in a red Ghagra or a street vendor selling grapes, its always amazing how different people from different backgrounds have something amazing to tell and its a shame how he can't tell every tale that is out their.
His prime focus is weddings because they are full of stories, from the girl who has waited for the big day all her life to her young cousin who spent the last few months planning for every event and how she would dress up for it. Desi Weddings are a marvel to behold, they are a blend of colors, joy and creativity. Unlike most artists, Salahuddin has a favorite his recent bridal shoot titled "Limitless Love" of a beautiful couple Mahira & Maz. Being a passionate person, he has a long list of regrets but what tops his lists is that when he started photography, he was drawn in to believe that its the camera that took the photos but later in life he realized that a photograph is crafted by a person a camera is merely a tool that helps one capture the shot.
With a mentor like Vishal Punjabi, he understands the importance of being originality so whenever someone who is about to step in to the world of photography asks him for advice he tells them that first they need to learn the basics of the field, then the rules so that when they are experienced enough they can break them. And the last ingredient needed for originality is not being afraid of failures, as humans we are bound to fail but that is what makes us great, everytime you fall down and get back up you learn something new and that something will someday will help you achieve the shot that will define you and your art. A good photograph is not of someone who you find attractive, it is a blend of emotions, people and the settings, so a dress might make someone look like the queen if the shot is right but if the shot is the wrong she might end up looking like a guest, which is why everyone needs to understand that a photograph is not the reflection of who is in front of the camera but it is infact the reflection of the person behind the camera i.e the photographer.
Being a passionate person, he always sets his goals high and right now what tops his lists is Paris, he is currently working on expanding his business and reach to Dubai but he hopes that one day he will conquer the streets of Paris and cover the ramps.
