Born in the green highlands of Hunza, Abdul Salam was born in the beautiful valley of Hunza. Like the man he shares the name with, he is exceptionally talented with a camera. His passion for colors is visible in his entire portfolio and his energy for capturing something out of the ordinary can be spotted in his work. Even though he has evolved in his work his heart still lies with mother nature, it's her beauty that makes his trigger finger ache and it's her poses which he finds the hardest to capture.
He still remembers the time he first held a camera in his hand, an Olympus. It was truly a life changing experience for him, with only 24 shots in the camera and no reviews of the shots he captures on the reel, it was scary but satisfying. From that point in his life he knew what he wanted to do, the path was unclear but with destination in sight he did whatever he had to get there. At first he started observing photographers but soon he realized that to achieve greatness he will have to find himself inspiring and he turned to books soon he turned to internet and the dawn of this new era opened him to a sea of possibilities which gave him insights on not only how to make the best of his equipment but how to post process his art.
Like every creative artist, Abdul Salam seems lost when asked about his best work, to him its out there somewhere waiting for him but till then he tries his best to make every project better then the last. Perfection to him is not about what he can do with the camera, it's a blend of elements, from lighting to the angle. His biggest regret is his decision of not pursuing photography professionally and now he sometimes rethinks his decision and hopes he wasn't wrong when he took it. To others his advice is obviously, follow your heart not the brain.
As a photographer he sees a lot of potential in the market for the upcoming talent, with media houses and social media finding footing in the country. He feels that the exploration of talent will increase two folds in the coming decade and then it will lead to a boom for talented young artist who can create canvases that are brilliant, elegant and worthy of praise.
