Maddie's photography

Pakistan is a country that has a diverse sets of culture but unfortunately majority of the population believes in no to little woman empowerment. Over the last decade a lot of work has been done to promote female talent in the country and today we have a very healthy pool of woman entrepreneurs. Madiha Arif is one of those few lucky females in our country who are not only working for their bread and butter but are striving hard to promote a positive image of their country.

Madiha started her journey in the world of photography after she joined PAF Kiet as a Media Science Major, after a course of it she quickly realised it is something that helps her express emotions so with a little help from her senior photographers at the university she started shooting. Izhar Shah took her under his wing and polished her, he currently is working at WSSA Dubai. At first it was hard and she thought about quitting early but Izhar kept pulled her in every time she wanted to quit, he spent quality time analysing her work and showing her the beauty in her craft as time progressed Madiha got the confidence she needed. It was Izhar who first realised the gift she had and he was quick to point it out to her that she can conceptualize the shot even before the models arrive.
She is not your per say professional photographer but rather she likes to call herself a freelance hobbyist who can squeeze in a shoot if you offer her good money and find a spot in her timetable. Her day job is a desk job where she handle the paperwork for a prestigious university in Karachi and she is juggling her Bachelors in Graphic Designing on the side as well. With her skill set its no wonder that she is a makeup artist as well and loves to paint others when she has spare time.
In her opinion a good photo is a mixture of observation, patience and precision. A photo is a reflection of what the photographer wants you to see so it is extremely important to have an idea of what you want others to see when you take your camera on an outing. To her photography is an art which can be made if you have the tools, the tools are merely their because they can assist a photographer to achieve results but what really matters is the training behind that photographer, with practice comes perfection and in her opinion no artist can dream of touching the sky if they don't have self doubt and the motivation to do better than the last.
The industry is evolving every day, a decade ago cell phones with cameras was a dream but now most phones have a healthy mega pixel count while others boost mega pixels that put DSLR's to shame or have better CMOS chips then the professional cameras. So she feels confident that the upcoming lot will be better and quicker to learn the fundamentals of photography and soon we will have an enormous pool of talented young photographers who will be battling for the top position resulting in a very healthy environment for the fans of photography.
