Photography is an art form that is beautiful and extremely versatile. It offers everyone an equal opportunity to exercise there creative muscles to the limits and beyond, may it be a male or a female. In a country like Pakistan where women are often looked upon as home makers and nothing more, many females have taken photography seriously and crafted a career out it. The list of names is extremely long and one of those names is Rabika Fatima, she is not a veteran at it yet but with her constant struggle she has proved her worth and in the coming years she will be one of the best photographers in Pakistan.
Photography for Rabika has always been a way of expressing herself with her mother's support she soon found herself surrounded with equipments and encouragements that a person needs to build a strong career. Clicking from an early age, Rabika didn't needed help from others when it came to photography, for her the experience was enough and that is what she does to this day. Experimenting everyday with her craft you would seldom find her without a camera in her spare time. Her first big break came back in 2013 when she had the opportunity of clicking for TARA Designer Jewelry. It was her first commercial project and after it was done she had gotten rid of every doubt she had about her skills. Since then she has covered a lot of products and people but one of her most memorable shoots is the one she did for Toulou ( An eastern clothing brand based in Canada), the shoot was both inspirational and challenging. She never actually thought she would be clicking for an international brand at a place like Hawks Bay but when they approached her for it she couldn't say no and today she feels proud to have their name on her portfolio.
With the will of a tigress we are not amazed when she said she doesn't has any regrets in life but was amazed us was her humble and down to earth nature, after clicking for an international brand most photographers start boasting about themselves but she feels proud to say that she is yet to be someone who is important in this line of work. She feels that photography is about passion, its not just a way of earning bread and butter and that is why she strongly feels only those who have the will to bend the rules should join this field as a career. With studios opening up everyday like cafe's she feels that this industry will have a rough time some time in the future, with so much competition the opportunities will fade away quickly for those who want to charge premium and its going to hurt the real artists in the long run because most of them charge higher for their services so that they can focus on every project individually but she feels hopeful that its not going to last for long, people will eventually lose interest and the ones who take photography as an art will be the ones left. Creativity is the key for a good photograph, no matter how beautiful and elegant a subject is, if the photographer can't get creative with it, its going to end up being just another shot or lost in the sea of shots.
