Fahad Lateef Photography

Born in the beautiful city of Azad Kashmir, Fahad Lateef never intended to be a photographer but it was faith that provided him with a opportunity to experiment and that led him to pursue a career in photography. A few years ago he was studying in England, with only a few classes a week he needed something to fill his spare time so he went out and bought himself a camera not a dslr but an ordinary point and shoot. At first it was only about finding a way to pass time but then as time progressed he felt the urge to shoot more and show it to the world, soon he was running after flying moments trying to capture them and the amount of appreciation he was getting encouraged him to up his game even more.

Like most photographers who joined the industry this decade, Fahad spent time learning from the internet, with sites like youtube he understood his equipment and then facebook provided him with a venue to get his work critiqued. In 2012 after a few years of practice he started his facebook page and since then he hasn't looked back. But the key to his success is mostly in his will to succeed and his eagerness to experiment. Unlike most new comers, Fahad has always had a trial and error philosophy so whenever he learned something new he would go out and apply it in the field mixing it with what he has learned previously so that he can create something that truly was his. A man with no regrets, he feels that life is too short to have any. We as humans are bound to make mistakes but those mistakes are what brings out the best in us so instead of holding onto them and beating oneself on them it is better to look at them and remind yourself of the things that you have achieved and how the mistake can be used to attain desirable results.

Like most photographers when asked if he has a favorite, Fahad struggled with the thought. Every picture to date is his baby and naming a favorite is always hard but he managed to name one, a recent shoot he did for a couple on their mhendi (the title picture). After going through the pictures we understood why they are his favorite, every picture in that album is a sweet blend of colors, nature and people. Most camera crews would have struggled to present this joyful bride, dressed in a bright yellow mixed with pink but Fahad's framing made her pictures stand out as works of art. This is a very good example for to be photographers and highlight the importance of understanding your subject, location and equipment. Fahad always advises new comers to go out and experiment before they start their journey in the world of photography. He stresses on the importance of being able to stand out amongst the sea of photographs that flood the social media everyday and the only way one can achieve that is by being comfortable at their craft. So go out and let your trigger finger do the talking, click as much as you can, whenever you can, where ever can, once you have your trigger finger trained work on your senses, everything from the jingle of a chime to the colors in the wild will give you an opportunity to capture a shot that can make the difference between an excellent and a poor shot. Lastly find your style, every photographer on this planet is a unique person and being unique means you have your own skill set, most photographers today try to replicate works of greats. It is a good way to get noticed but surviving needs a little extra plus why would a client want a knock off of the original, as a photographer you need to see yourself as an artist and no self respecting artist would like being called a shadow of some other artist.

With no immediate plans for the future, Fahad is enjoying his journey. His prime goal is to perfect his craft and that is why you would often find him taking on projects that seem impossible or projects that are new for him, from landscapes to desi weddings he tries to fit everything under his belt and deliver in the best of ways. Plus he knows that the industry is changing, with a tug of war between social platforms to lead on the photography front, he aims to be the one who is standing firmly on his feet when this sea settles.
