Jafar Kazmi photography

Desi weddings, you just can't get enough of them. From brides to the bridesmaids its a sight that makes every sane person be in awe. Colors define our culture and weddings seem to bring the best of them, the classic wedding has three main elements a bride in a bright dress, a groom in a turban and loads of food. Jafar Kazmi is a man who is always invited to one event or the another and hes lucky enough to get paid to show up. As a wedding photographer, Jafar has seen pretty much everything over the years, from the tears of the bride as she walks out with her husband and says goodbye to her old life to the aunties who love playing match makers.

Jafar started his career as a hobbyist when he was only 15, he quickly learned the ins and outs of the industry from his peers but it was the pros who made him push his game to a new level. With internet as his teacher he spent hours going through professional shoots and tried to recreate the artwork in a way that help him express and be better. It took him quite some time to get to that level but today, Jafar is one of the best photographer in town. May it be a faint smile on a bride or a friend leaning down to gossip in the grooms ear if Jafar is there you will have it frozen in time.

To him photography is more then just a way of making the ends meet, its an art which he feels needs to be expressed in the right manner. With every shot its about creating a Mona Lisa and you don't make a Mona Lisa without putting time in it, so when he is on the scene he will make sure he is Sherlock and Leonardo at the same time. While his eyes look for his Mona Lisa his brain is busy deducting and calculating the best way to capture her. Four years in the trade he is still waiting for her to come by but hopefully he will get her soon.

For the newbies his advice is always the same, meditate and learn to control your impulses. If you want to be a photographer you need to have the discipline of a sharp shooter and an eye of a hawk, it takes a lot of practice to fight the urge of pressing the trigger and it takes a lot of patient to get everything aligned. A photograph is not just about the subject, its the story that matters which can only be told when there is narrative and for that you need to find the right setting that will help you express that tale. So if you want a good shot, its not just about the person in focus but its about whats not in focus as well.
